One thing is clear: David Lorsch ’88, vice president of strategy and business development at Strava, Inc., a social media platform for athletes, did not earn his sports credentials at Commonwealth. He does, though, trace his approach to his work back to high school: “There’s an analytical way of thinking and breaking down problems that I learned at Commonwealth.”
Lorsch became interested in athletics in his thirties, taking a break from his work in private equity, at Calera Capital, a middle market private equity firm in San Francisco. He ran his first marathon, then moved on to triathlons, and a light went off in his head: “As I became very interested in running and cycling and endurance sports,” he says. “I saw an interesting business opportunity there.”
